Box Office July 27-29, 2018
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! was Second for the second week in a row with $15 Million. That is an impressive hold when one considers that two of the top three films at the box office are action films.
The Equalizer 2 was Third with $14 Million at the box office this weekend. The Equalizer 2 is not performing as well as many had hoped with its drop from first to third after only two weeks of theatrical release.
Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation was Fourth with $12.3 Million for $119.2 Million so far.
Teen Titans Go! To The Movies premiered in Fifth Place with $10.5 Million.
The films in the Top Ten that opened this weekend at the box office:
Mission: Impossible – Fallout is a 2018 American action spy film written, produced and directed by Christopher McQuarrie. It is the sixth installment in the Mission: Impossible film series, and the second film to be directed by McQuarrie, after Rogue Nation (2015), making him the first person to direct more than one film in the franchise. The cast includes Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, Michelle Monaghan and Alec Baldwin, all of whom reprise their roles from previous films, and Henry Cavill and Angela Bassett, who join the franchise. In the film, Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his team must track down stolen plutonium while being monitored by a CIA agent (Cavill) after a mission goes awry.
Teen Titans Go! To the Movies is a 2018 American animated superhero comedy film based on the television series Teen Titans Go!, which is adapted from the DC Comics superhero team of the same name. From Warner Bros. Animation, the film is written and produced by series developers Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath, and directed by series producer Peter Rida Michail and Horvath. The events of the film take place during the fifth season of Teen Titans Go!.
The film features the voices of Greg Cipes, Scott Menville, Khary Payton, Tara Strong, and Hynden Walch reprising their respective roles from the series, while Will Arnett (who also co-produced the film) and Kristen Bell join the cast.
