Regé-Jean Page not Returning for Bridgerton Season 2

Regé-Jean Page will not be returning to Bridgerton for Season 2. As the lead male character, it was expected that Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings, would return when Netflix began airing Bridgerton: Season 2.

That is not happening and as it turns out, that was never happening. From Page about his character arc on Bridgerton:

“It’s a one-season arc. It’s going to have a beginning, middle, end – give us a year,” the actor shared, revealing it was a part of the plan all along. “[I thought] ‘That’s interesting,’ because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit and then the Bridgerton family rolls on.”

For season 2, Bridgerton will focus on another member of the Bridgerton family.

Lady Whistletown had this to say about the upcoming season of Bridgerton:

Cast and crew

Bridgerton stars Phoebe Dynevor, Golda Rosheuvel, Jonathan Bailey, Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, Nicola Coughlan, Ruby Barker, Sabrina Bartlett, Ruth Gemmell, Adjoa Andoh, Polly Walker, Bessie Carter, Harriet Cains, and Julie Andrews.

Chris Van Dusen, Sarah Dollard, Janet Lin, Abby McDonald, and Joy C. Mitchell wrote the screenplays for Bridgerton (based on the book by Julia Quinn). Kris Bowers created the music for the TV series. Jeffrey Jur and Philipp Blaubach crafted the cinematography for the TV series.

Plot Synopsis

Bridgerton‘s plot synopsis: “From Shondaland and Creator Chris Van Dusen, BRIDGERTON follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market. Hoping to follow in her parent’s footsteps and find a match sparked by true love, Daphne’s prospects initially seem to be unrivaled. But as her older brother begins to rule out her potential suitors, the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown casts aspersions on Daphne.

Enter the highly desirable and rebellious Duke of Hastings (Rege-Jean Page), committed bachelor and the catch of the season for the debutantes’ mamas. Despite proclaiming that they want nothing the other has to offer, their attraction is undeniable and sparks fly as they find themselves engaged in an increasing battle of wits while navigating society’s expectations for their future.”
