Orion Pictures and United Artists have released the second movie trailer for Child’s Play (2019).

The first teaser trailer for this Child Play remake was far better than this trailer.

This remake looks absolutely ordinary. Nothing about this trailer (or film) seems to step up the narrative from the original Child Play‘s film. I liked that there was a foul-mouth killer in the first films and that he was unpredictable.

The kills and situations in this incarnation of Child’s Play seem pedestrian, with neo-situps that have telegraphed endings.

Child’s Play‘s plot synopsis: “A contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic, CHILD’S PLAY follows Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature.”

In the reboot, Plaza stars as a mother who gives her son Andy, portrayed by Gabriel Bateman (Lights Out), a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature. The new version of the killer doll won’t be a doll possessed by a serial killer but will be a defective Buddy doll whose programming code was hacked so that he has no limitations to learning and also violence.

Lars Klevberg‘s Child’s Play also stars Mark Hamill, Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, Gabriel Bateman, Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, Kristin York, Carlease Burke, Veenu Sandhu, Nicole Anthony, Amber Taylor, Ben Andrusco-Daon, Zahra Anderson, and Johnson Phan.
