Child’s Play 2019 Remake Trailer
Lars Klevberg‘s Child’s Play (2019) movie trailer stars Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, Gabriel Bateman, Beatrice Kitsos, and Ty Consiglio. Child’s Play‘s plot synopsis: “A contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic, CHILD’S PLAY follows Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature.”
More on the plot of the Child’s Play remake:
In the reboot, Plaza stars as a mother who gives her son Andy, portrayed by Gabriel Bateman (Lights Out), a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature. The new version of the killer doll won’t be a doll possessed by a serial killer but will be a defective Buddy doll whose programming code was hacked so that he has no limitations to learning and also violence.
It is hard not to be skeptical of this remake but at least they are trying to do something different. The problem is that the new twist has already been done, to a certain (and twisted) degree, in the short film Blinky. It will be hard for the Child’s Play remake to top Blinky, especially the unforced, creepy atmosphere that is established in that short film.
That being said, this trailer does a good job of not showing what the new Chucky doll looks like.
Child’s Play also stars Kristin York, Carlease Burke, Veenu Sandhu, Nicole Anthony, Amber Taylor, Ben Andrusco-Daon, Zahra Anderson, and Johnson Phan.
