Jon Bernthal The Punisher

Jon Bernthal Breaks Silence About Being Cast as The Punisher on Daredevil. Fans were overjoyed when news broke that The Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal would play The Punisher in season two of Daredevil. The actor spoke for the first time on being cast for the role.

Speaking with ABC News, the Fury star opened a bit about being cast as Frank Castle in the Netflix series. “Oh man, it’s just a huge honor to play the part and that’s all I can say about that. I’m very thrilled and we haven’t started yet, but I’m very much looking forward to it.”

After three failed attempts of bringing The Punisher to the big screen, the vigilante’s future was unclear even after the rights were reverted back to Marvel Studios. It was a hard sell for The Punisher to come back to films, so it made sense to bring him into the small screen at the dark corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which Daredevil is a part of.

The Punisher has been known for his violent past after the murder of his family. By taking the law into his own hands, Frank Castle donned the name The Punisher and became a vigilante who tries to clean the streets of Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter the cost. So having Bernthal portray this beloved character will be interesting to see. But what do you guys think of Jon Bernthal becoming The Punisher? Is he the right man for the role?
