The Dark Tower International Trailer

Columbia Pictures has released the international movie trailer and sixth movie poster for The Dark Tower (2017). The majority of the trailer is comprised of new footage on earth. Many of the scenes show Mid-World’s last gunslinger Roland Deschain (Idris Elba)’s vast abilities with his six shooters, skills no Earth-born human-being could possess.

I like and dislike that aspect of The Dark Tower. I would rather that Roland Deschain have had vast gun fighting experience like William Munny in Unforgiven, not flashy, computer-assisted moves and slow bullets à la The Matrix.

I will take the last gun battle in Unforgiven over all of the VFX combat scenes in this trailer and in The Dark Tower any day of the week.

What I did like about the international trailer for The Dark Tower was the animosity between the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey) and Roland Deschain. The two of them clashing on-screen should be good.

The Dark Tower‘s plot synopsis: based in the book series by Stephen King, “The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum.  It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.”

Nikolaj Arcel‘s The Dark Tower also star Tom Taylor, Abbey Lee, Fran Kranz, Katheryn Winnick, Dennis Haysbert, Nicholas Hamilton, Jackie Earle Haley, Alex McGregor, José Zúñiga, and Karl Thaning.
