Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The home releases of Black Adam, Prey for the Devil, Rick and Morty, and Station Eleven are the most noteworthy releases (and pre-orders) on home video and streaming services this week.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Black Adam and had this to say about the film:

Black Adam is long and dark, though. There are action sequences that stand out significantly as impressive from a technical standpoint. However, the majority of the movie is just too wild and all over the place for the film’s own good. There is some technically superb editing that tries to bring the plot threads together for the audience but the story line is still hard to follow for much of the film and Johnson needed more of his signature personality to make this role really work in his favor.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Prey for the Devil and had this to say about the film:

What isn’t so strong about Prey for the Devil is its cliched scenes of people possessed by demons which seem straight out of other much better films. Plus, the new movie’s  ending is directly out of the been-there, done-that book when it comes to poorly done horror movie conclusions that try to leave the door open for a sequel. This film would have been smarter to avoid such tired horror movie conventions to focus on the plot threads that make the movie unique.
