Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The home releases of Licorice Pizza, Belle, You Won’t Be Alone, Succession, and The Last Kingdom are the most noteworthy releases on home video and streaming services this week.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Licorice Pizza and had this to say about the film:

Licorice Pizza is, quite simply, a genius film-maker at work and at the top of his game. Paul Thomas Anderson has never made a more creative film and that includes Punch Drunk Love which may have been wildly original but never hit the bullseye the way Licorice Pizza does.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Belle and had this to say about the film:

Japanese filmmaker Hosoda has put together a visually appealing film that creates an alternate universe within the world of “U.” This world is vividly and richly detailed. It is well-imagined and draws the viewer in right from the early scenes.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Morbius and had this to say about the film:

Morbius is about the dangers of trying to outwit the natural progression of the circumstances one is born into. Jared Leto is a reliable actor and doesn’t disappoint with a compelling performance in an ultimately decent, but flawed, movie.
