EVIL DEAD 4: Sam Raimi Will Work on Script during 2013 Summer

Bruce Campbell Evil Dead 2

Evil Dead 4 script will be written in summer 2013. It seems as though director Sam Raimi has not passed the reigns of the Evil Dead film franchise to another director, Fede Alvarez, after all. The Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell endorsed The Evil Dead remake Evil Dead is rolling out this year but it seems the duo is not gone Ash or his horror/comedy adventures.

From a London press conference where Sam Raimi was promoting the upcoming theatrical release of Oz The Great and Powerful:

I would love to make Evil Dead 4. My brother and I plan to work on the script this summer.

Sam Raimi will begin doing press for the Fede Alvarez-directed remake starting on April 5, 2013. I can not imagine how this is not one of the first questions that he gets asked by those at the press events. As not to undermine Fede Alvarez’s film any further, Raimi very likely grow tight lipped or completely retract his statement even if he and his brother Ivan Raimi begin writing Evil Dead 4 this summer “off the grid”.

The biggest question is Bruce Campbell: will he reprise his fan-favorite role as Ash for a fourth time? I can not imagine Campbell won’t play Ash again. Arnold is playing Conan again.

For those that do not remember, the third Evil Dead movie entitled Army of Darkness ended like this:

Despite causing the predicament faced by the Medieval soldiers, Ash initially demands to be returned to his own time. However, Sheila is captured by a Flying Deadite, and later transformed into a Deadite. Ash becomes determined to lead the humans against the army of the dead. Reluctantly, the people agree to join Ash. Using scientific knowledge from textbooks in the trunk of his 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88, and enlisting the help of Duke Henry, Ash successfully leads the medieval soldiers to victory over the Deadites and Evil Ash, saving Sheila and bringing peace between Arthur and Henry in the process. After this, he is brought back to his own time using a potion made from the Necronomicon. Later, Ash is at the S-Mart store telling a male co-worker (Ted Raimi) all about his adventure back in time, and how he could have been king. A female customer becomes possessed by a demon and starts wreaking havoc on the store, and Ash slays the creature.
