The Lucasfilm/Disney production of Star Wars Episode VII picked the two actors after an open casting call across 11 U.S. and U.K. cities that garnered (as you can imagine) almost 70,000 applicants.

[The two new cast members]:  One is Crystal Clarke, an American actress studying in Glasgow with both stage and screen acting experience who will appear in The Moon and The Sun with Pierce Brosnan next year. Also on board is British actor Pip Anderson, who is rather athletic, having recently demonstrated his remarkable physical skills bouncing around in a Spider-Man ad for Sony.

Ride Along 2

Ken Jeong has joined the cast of Universal’s Ride Along 2, joining returning leads Ice Cube and Kevin Hart in the cop comedy sequel to this year’s $153 million hit. Tim Story will direct and Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay are writing the script.

Olivia Munn is strapping in for Universal’s Ride Along 2. The Newsroom and Magic Mike star joins returning leads Ice Cube and Kevin Hart

Chef

The Weinstein Co.‘s culinary pic Chef is looking to add Sam Keeley to its kitchen. The Irish thesp…is in negotiations to join star Bradley Cooper, Omar Sy, and Sienna Miller in the story of a Paris chef whose career is tanked by a hard-partying lifestyle. Sober, he returns determined to redeem himself by heading a restaurant that can earn a coveted three-star Michelin rating.

Keeley will take the role of David, a chef recruited by Cooper’s Adam Jones to work in his kitchen, who Jones ends up crashing with when he’s displaced from his home.

Ant-man

David Dastmalchian has signed on to play an unspecified role in Ant-man that Marvel is keeping under wraps. The actor’s character will join an ensemble headed by Paul Rudd.

Black Mass

David Harbour Joins Johnny Depp ‘Black Mass’ Film…David Harbour will play corrupt FBI agent John Morris in Warner Bros’ Whitey Bulger feature Black Mass starring Johnny Depp and directed by Scott Cooper. Morris, along with fellow FBI agent John Connolly, allowed Whitey to evade law enforcement and become one of the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in Boston history.

The Escort

The Escort has found its lead in Lyndsy Fonseca, the Kick-Ass actress who’s coming off a four-season run on The CW’s Nikita. Pic tracks a sex-obsessed journalist (Michael Doneger) who throws himself into the world of high class escorts when he starts following a Stanford-educated prostitute. Will Slocombe (Cold Turkey, Crime Fiction) is directing from a script by Doneger and Brandon A. Cohen, with Doneger, Bruce Campbell, Tommy Dewey, Rumer Willis, Rachel Resheff, and Sonya Walger rounding out the cast.

The Nest

John Cena is dropkicking his way into The Nest, Universal’s Tina Fey-Amy Poehler comedy about two sisters who throw one last party in their parents’ soon-to-be-sold house. Character details are under wraps but I hear the Cenation Leader is playing what could mark his first villain role after spending over a dozen years as the WWE’s All-American hero.

Pitch Perfect‘s Jason Moore is directing from a screenplay by Paula Pell…Fey and Poehler anchor the cast which also includes James Brolin, Ike Barinholtz, Maya Rudolph and John Leguizamo.

Odysseus

Warner Bros has hired Fedor Bondarchuk to direct Odysseus, the large-scale film based on Homer’s poem The Odyssey, about the Greek king who returns after a decade away fighting the Trojan War. Jeremy Doner is writing the script.

By Way Of Helena

Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson will head West to shoot revenge action thriller By Way Of Helena. Aussie filmmaker Kieran Darcy-Smith (Wish You Were Here) is directing from the script by Matt Cook that made the 2009 Black List. Hemsworth will star as David, an 1880s Texas Ranger sent to an isolated frontier town to investigate a series of mysterious murders. There he squares off against Harrelson as a local preacher named Abraham who holds the townsfolk in a fearful grip.
