Karl Urban Dredd

The Steps Necessary for Dredd 2 and Film Finance 101. Producer Adi Shankar has made a video entitled ‘How To Make A DREDD Sequel & A Lesson In Film Finance’ to answer the persistent questions about a sequel to the film Dredd. The answer is not a simple one and because of that, Shankar has also given people outside of the film industry a lesson in how films are financed in 2015. The video is laced  with humor and is very entertaining while at the same time informative about the current film financing landscape.

The one point that Shankar didn’t touch upon was how piracy has affected the gross of US and international films, driving the need for strong foreign sales around the world.

Dredd 2 happening comes down to three things: a lower film budget, a big director (unrealistic), or a big movie star (boosting the value of the film). The third option is the most plausible, at least by Shankar estimation.
