Warner Bros. has released the second movie trailer for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017). The first trailer for the film was like an action movie highlight reel. Very little beyond the obvious (Arthur finds Excalibur and must thwart the evil monarch in power) was shown. This movie gives the viewer the entire scope of the upcoming action film.

From what is present in the trailer, my guess is that the viewer is shown many of the noteworthy moments from the first and second acts of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

I liked some of the new things that they have done with the Arthur / Excalibur-lore. Excalibur lighting up like it was made out of elf steel and sensed a nearby Orc, Uther Pendragon (Eric Bana) gets some screen time, The Mage (Astrid Bergès-Frisbey) adds a magical new element to the storyline, and Vortigern (Jude Law) gains advice form supernatural force off-screen.

The main problem with the look and feel of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is that it is “borrowing” too much from Snow White and the Huntsman. That film was good but if they were going to borrow from a film, it should have been from Rated-R Excalibur. With the amount of CGI on screen however, I see why they did not. Warner Bros. wants as many people as possible to see this film and an R-Rating would have kept some of those people out of the theater.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword‘s plot synopsis: “When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.”

Guy Ritchie‘s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword also stars Charlie Hunnam, Annabelle Wallis, Aidan Gillen, Djimon Hounsou, Katie McGrath, Tom Wu, Hermione Corfield, Mikael Persbrandt, Eline Powell, Michael McElhatton, David Beckham, and Kamil Lemieszewski.
