Krypton’s Plot Synopsis and Georgina Campbell Cast as Lyta Zod

Georgina Campbell has been cast as the female lead in Syfy‘s Krypton TV series. Georgina Campbell will play the role of Lyta Zod, daughter of General Alura Zod. Lyta Zod is part of the military caste of Krypton. That genetically engineered caste is n charge of all military aspect of the Kryptonian society, including its security. Lyta Zod is not a full-fledged soldier when the series begins. Lyta Zod is a cadet in the Kryptonian military academy.

That is first layer of drama surrounding Lyta Zod character on Krypton. The second layer is that Lyta Zod takes part in a forbidden romantic relationship with Seg-El. If you remember from Man of Steel, procreation on Krypton only happened in a laboratory. Biological procreation was forbidden. Also, Kryptonian were only supposed to have relationships and breed within their own caste.

The setting for the Krypton television series is two generations before the destruction of the planet. Superman’s Grandfather (from the House of El) is the central figure of the TV series. After being publicly shamed, Superman’s grandfather (possibly named Seyg-El) endeavors save his planet and restore honor to the El name.

Filming in Serbia, the pilot episode of Krypton will be directed by Colm McCarthy. The screenplay for the pilot episode was written by David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg.

There is no word yet on when the pilot episode of Krypton will air. The premiere date will most-likely be in 2017.
