Lily-Rose Depp Felt Traumatized by Dad’s Early Movie

Lily-Rose Depp of the current hit Nosferatu has revealed that she felt upset due to the way her dad’s character was treated in the early 1990’s movie, Edward Scissorhands.

Lily-Rose Depp is Johnny Depp’s daughter and she is now carving out a nice career of her own thanks to her splendid turn in the new horror movie remake Nosferatu. In a recent interview, Lily-Rose stated that she was just a few years old when she saw her father’s movie, Edward Scissorhands. She was not happy by the way the movie portrayed its characters picking on Edward Scissorhands, the title character which was played by her dad, Johnny.

It was stated Lily-Rose said in her interview that she related to Edward as a character and didn’t want to see mean things happen to him. She feels a certain fondness for monster roles. While Edward was easy to relate to for audiences, Nosferatu (read: Dracula, LOL) is a bit tougher a character for audiences to sympathize with although Lily-Rose said she understands the strange characters like Edward and Nosferatu who many people may not fully grasp. In the old Johnny Depp movie, characters turned on Edward and Lily-Rose definitely felt sorry for the character as a young girl.

Edward Scissorhands was one of Johnny Depp’s finest early movies and cast him opposite Winona Ryder. Tim Burton had selected Johnny Depp for the central role in the old movie even though there were many candidates who were vying for the part, including Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks. Johnny Depp was made up very well for the role and audiences were quite happy with his work in the picture as evidenced by the film’s “A-” CinemaScore. People may not feel as strongly towards Nosferatu as a film being that it got a “B-” CinemaScore grade. However, the new film is still raking up the dough at the box-office due to its lavish costumes and amazing cinematography, not to mention the presence of Lily-Rose whose performance simply knocked the ball out of the park.

Lily-Rose Depp may be a bit sensitive but that has helped her succeed as an actress. Her emotionally riveting performance in Nosferatu, in any other year, would have resulted in award nominations. Given the crowded field this year, she’ll have to settle for the great reviews rather than big awards but it’s easy to see a potential Oscar nomination in this very talented actress’s future.

If you haven’t seen Edward Scissorhands, now is the time to see it given the icy sculptures featured in the movie which fit winter like a glove. Nosferatu hasn’t been out too long but it’s already close to making the $56 million Edward Scissorhands earned at the domestic box-office.
