Lucifer Acquired by Netflix for Season 4 Renewal

The outcry by Lucifer fans proved to be successful. Following the renewal campaign lead by the hashtag “#SaveLucifer” after Fox cancelled the TV series, Netflix has picked up Lucifer for a fourth season.

Lucifer‘s ratings played a role in Netflix’s decision to rescue Lucifer from cancellation before the cast left to pursue new endeavors following the expiration of their contracts’ options:

Averaging a 0.8 demo rating and 3.3 million total weekly viewers through its April 30 [, 2018] outing (per Live+Same Day numbers), Lucifer ranks 10th and eighth among all Fox dramas this TV season, and is down 20 percent in the demo from its sophomore season.

This numbers were attractive enough for Netflix to step in, begin negotiations, and to acquire Lucifer for a Season 4 renewal.

The fourth season of Lucifer has no set air date yet on Netflix. The U.S. “SVOD rights to the first three seasons of Lucifer are owned by Hulu.”

Television, in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Aggressive Mediocrity. …is executive-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson.
