ONE NIGHT ONLY (2026): 1980’s Teen Movie Queen Molly Ringwald Cast in Upcoming Film

Molly Ringwald Set to Co-Star in New Film
Molly Ringwald from several successful 1980’s romantic teen comedies will be featured in a new movie called One Night Only.
One Night Only, set to be released on August 7, 2026, will showcase former teen actress from the 1980’s, Molly Ringwald. Slated to be released by Universal Pictures, the movie is the latest to come from director Will Gluck who is known for his remarkably funny romantic comedies from the 2010’s, Friends with Benefits and Easy A.
There are some high-profile cast members showcased beside Ringwald in the forthcoming picture, including Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown) and Callum Turner (of the upcoming A24 release Eternity). Also co-starring in the new upcoming movie is LeVar Burton.
Ringwald shot to stardom in Sixteen Candles back in the mid-1980’s and continued her success with roles in other John Hughes movies like The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink. More recently, you could find Ringwald taking on supporting roles in smaller independent films like Bad Things, a curiosity piece which played at the Tribeca Festival a couple of years back. She also appeared in television shows such as Riverdale and The Bear. She was the go-to movie prom princess back in the 1980’s and she will be playing Turner’s mother in the upcoming Universal movie.
LeVar Burton is a veteran performer who is known for his work on the old miniseries Roots and the show Trivial Pursuit. Turner and Barbaro have been rising stars in Hollywood for some time and Turner should finally be catapulted to stardom by Eternity the same way Barbaro was by her Academy Award-nominated turn in A Complete Unknown.
Gluck’s newest film is about a night (the only night of the year, in fact) where pre-marital sex is legal, and two folks embark on a mission to hunt down partners to do the deed with over the course of an eventful evening. Ringwald and Burton have plenty of experience that makes one believe they will be able to make these supporting roles memorable ones. Meanwhile, the leads (Turner and Barbaro) are going to be at the height of their popularity by the time the new film releases next summer. Eternity is tracking pretty well and is poised to be a box-office hit upon its release later this month.
It is clear that Gluck in on familiar turf with this high-concept premise and the director should be able to make the new picture a pleasant enough diversion for the dog days of August where good movies are typically hard to come by. With Ringwald on board, the project is likely to attract old school fans of hers who grew up on the teenage movies that defined the era during which they were released.
