A Man Called Otto has received some excellent early feedback from viewers who have seen it at special early screenings. It is directed by Mark Forster and stars Hanks as the nosy, grumpy neighbor, Otto, who plans to pursue death after the loss of his wife but finds that a new family who has moved in next door has intrigued him enough to keep living. This family leads Otto to have a newfound respect for life. The film will open in New York and L.A. on December 30th, and will go into a wide release on January 13th.

Wilson previously produced a huge hit back in 2002. She helped make the box-office smash, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which starred Nia Vardalos who also wrote the hysterical picture. That 2002 hit made $241 million domestically and another $127 million internationally. That film inspired a sequel and has a third movie in the franchise coming soon. Wilson was also the executive producer of another comic blockbuster, Mamma Mia!, and its sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Those musical films were huge hits as well for Wilson.

In addition to her previous successes, which include her successful acting career, Wilson co-wrote and recorded a song for A Man Called Otto called “Til You’re Home.” Wilson’s most notable screen performances came in films such as Sleepless in Seattle and Now and Then.

Artistic Films will be a great way for the multi-talented Wilson to get some touching and heartwarming stories out into the world. A Man Called Otto will only be the beginning of what is to come for this movie production company.

Wilson collaborated with Hanks as his acting partner in Volunteers back in 1985 which also co-starred the legendary John Candy. Wilson has always had a great flair for comedy with a terrific sense of humor and if early word is any indication, A Man Called Otto seems like the perfect blend of comedy and heartwarming drama which will certainly launch Artistic Films with style and grace. It may just be Tom Hanks’ most loved role in years. Don’t miss the opportunity to see it.
