SHAZAM (2019): Film Becomes Two Movies with BLACK ADAM Solo Film

Black Adam Dwayne Johnson

Shazam Splitting into Two Films with Black Adam Solo Outing

There are some big changes coming for Shazam as Warner Bros. has announced that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will also be a part of his own solo film as Black Adam. So it looks like we will be seeing Johnson in two films rather than in just Shazam as the anti-hero.

The former wrestler had a meeting with DC Entertainment last week, which fans have been curious about. Now we have our reason as The Hollywood Reporter revealed that New Line Cinema will be developing a Black Adam film, which will stand apart from Shazam. So we may end up getting two franchises as Johnson won’t be part of Shazam and it was thought out that they have seen these two characters meet up later at some point.

In the report, the studio execs decided that Johnson was too big of a star to have a supporting role in Shazam, so they decided to give him his own film. As of now, no one is in line to direct Black Adam, though it’s being mentioned that Henry Gayden might write the script for the film.

Here’s a big development that may surprise you. Writer Borys Kit tweeted that it’s a possibility that we may see Black Adam first in the upcoming Aquaman film. If that is what ends up happening, then we may see the studio making this a priority to give the character some background before we meet Billy Batson and the rest of the gang. What do you guys think of this latest development?
