STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII (2017) Will Be Shot On Film

Star Wars Saga

Star Wars: Episode VIII Will Be Shot On Film. The second installment of this new trilogy in the Star Wars Saga will be commandeered by Rian Johnson and will be shot on film. JJ Abrams has shot The Force Awakens on film, and it seems like Disney’s plan is to retain that look for at least the core trilogy. Who knows, perhaps the Anthology side-stories will be filmed digitally. We’ll have to wait and see. For now, here’s validation by the director himself, via twitter.

I like Rian Johnson quite a bit. I watched Brick (2005) on a whim, in college, and was hooked within a few minutes. I kept an eye out for his work ever since, and absolutely adored Brothers Bloom (2008), so when it was announced that he’d be filming a sci-fi action movie with Bruce Willis, I was happy for him and excited to see the end result. You can imagine how thrilling it was to see Johnson get his own Star Wars film. This is a guy who deserves it, who is well-read, analyzes films in his spare time and understands how lucky he is. I can’t wait to see his Star Wars film in theatres.

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
