THE DARK KNIGHT RISES: Josh Pence joins 2012 Batman Cast

Josh Pence, Ra's Al Ghul, comic book

Josh Pence has been cast in The Dark Knight Rises. Josh Pence joins the cast of The Dark Knight Rises (2012) supposedly as a younger version of Ra’s Al Ghul, whom Liam Neeson played in Batman Begins. Christopher Nolan‘s third Batman film sees “Josh Pence, who played opposite Armie Hammer as Tyler Winklevoss in The Social Network (where Hammer’s face was superimposed on his)” joining a cast that already includes Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Juno Temple, and Marion Cotillard. Josh Pence presence in the film paves

the way for a possible return of the supposedly dead character. Also, while the studio never confirmed [Marion] Cotillard’s character, it has been rumored to be that of Thalia Al Ghul, the daughter of Batman’s mentor-turned-enemy.

Sources say Pence will appear in scenes that take place 30 years prior to the present story.

Pence, repped by Innovative Artists and Industry Entertainment, recently wrapped Battleship, Universal’s big-budget action movie based on the board game, and indie political thriller The Algerian.

I think this is great news. I am really looking forward to The League of Shadows return and watching Batman fight opponents trained in the same fashion he was. The four-on-one ninja battle at the end of Batman Begins was one of my favoriate action scenes out of all the Christopher Nolan Batman films. Regarding Marion Cotillard presence in the film, I believe she might also be the “great love” of Ra’s Al Ghul when he was younger, spoken of in Batman Begins, not his daughter. Or perhaps Cotillard and Pence’s presence will involve one of Ra’s Al Ghul origin stories, Birth of the Demon. The flashback segments of The Dark Knight Rises might be the scenes in which Cotillard appears. What do you think of Josh Pence being cast in The Dark Knight Rises and Marion Cotillard’s possible connection to him within it?
