THE LAST MRS. PARRISH: Jennifer Lopez Will be Teaming Up with Robert Zemeckis for Netflix Film
Jennifer Lopez To Star in New Netflix Film
Jennifer Lopez will be working with director Robert Zemeckis on the upcoming Netflix film, The Last Mrs. Parrish, which is based on a popular book.
Jennifer Lopez has proven herself “unstoppable” with recent roles in movies like Netflix’s Atlas and the aptly titled Amazon hit, Unstoppable. Now, she’s teaming up with Robert Zemeckis of Forrest Gump fame to star in an intriguing project titled The Last Mrs. Parrish. This forthcoming movie is based on a book by Liv Constantine from 2017. Kirkus Reviews compared the book to the unsettling hit, Gone Girl, which will certainly make people excited to see the upcoming Netflix film.
Robert Zemeckis wouldn’t seemingly be the first choice to direct a psychological thriller like The Last Mrs. Parrish, but the director has proven in the past he’s certainly capable of making movies other than the Tom Hanks dramas he is known best for. On two ends of the Hanks spectrum, Zemeckis made the hit, Forrest Gump, and the recent dud, Here. Zemeckis also helmed an exciting Joseph Gordon-Levitt dramatic movie, The Walk, about a decade ago.
Jennifer Lopez is being pegged to be nominated for an Oscar next year for her work in the Sundance favorite, Kiss of the Spider Woman which was a remake of a 1985 film that won rave reviews. That re-working of the 1985 movie is due out in theaters on October 10th which is just in time for movies that are recognized by the Academy Awards and other prestigious award ceremonies to come out.
The Last Mrs. Parrish centers on a con-artist invading a couple’s lives. The novel on which it was based was a Reese Witherspoon Book Club favorite as well. Amber Patterson is the name of the lead character who tries to make the rich Daphne Parrish’s life a living hell. This Netflix adaptation is certain to be a movie of interest for both thriller fans and fans of the novel on which it was based. Gone Girl comparisons are not to be taken lightly as that film was an enormous critical and box-office success.
It’s interesting to see Zemeckis make a movie like The Last Mrs. Parrish when he’s known for projects like Gump and the wildly creative Back to the Future. Can he get Lopez to give this new role everything she’s got? We will see when the film ultimately premieres on Netflix. In the meantime, be on the lookout to see Lopez nab the Oscar nomination she so rightfully deserves for the highly anticipated Kiss of the Spider Woman which will be out in October, as previously stated.
