Barry, and Ethan Phillips. The Purge: Election Year‘s plot synopsis: “It’s been two years since Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo) stopped himself from a regrettable act of revenge on Purge Night. Now serving as head of security for Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), his mission is to protect her in a run for president and survive the annual ritual that targets the poor and innocent. But when a betrayal forces them onto the streets of D.C. on the one night when no help is available, they must stay alive until dawn… or both be sacrificed for their sins against the state.”

This trailer gives away the major events in at least the first two acts of the film and part of the third. Why did they do that? Don’t show the major plot points for the majority of the film in the trailer. Did no one learn from the trailers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens how to show great, gripping scenes without key plot points being divulged?

All that being said, I did enjoy that they continued the storyline from the second Purge film.

The Purge: Election Year also stars Sparrowhawk, Edwin Hodge, Terry Serpico, David Aaron Baker, Kyle Secor, Kimberly Howe, Joseph Julian Soria, Christopher James Baker, London Hall, and Liza Colón-Zayas.
