Thor: Ragnarok Trailer 2 from Comic-Con 2017

The second movie trailer for Thor: Ragnarok (2017) was released during the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con International. The tone of the Thor franchise has certainly changed with Thor: Ragnarok. The war theme has been swapped out for a fun, Guardians of the Galaxy-like feel via an 80’s vibe. Now that I am reading Ready Player One, and having seen the trailer that just premiered at the SDCC 2017, that 80’s vibe is even more apparent.

Regarding the Guardians of the Galaxy-like feel, there is even a Drax the Destroyer / Star Lord scene in this Thor: Ragnarok trailer between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). It’s weird and a transparent ripoff.

Seeing everyone happy and smiling during supposed life or death situations in this Thor: Ragnarok  trailer took all of the tension out of those scenes. Was that the point?

The best part of the trailer was Cate Blanchett and everything that she brought to the Hela role. To me,  she was the only exciting and interesting element in trailer.

Thor: Ragnarok‘s plot synopsis: “In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela.
