Toronto International Film Festival 2016 Film Lineup

The full film lineup for the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has been announced. The opening film for the 41th Annual Toronto International Film Festival will be Antoine Fuqua‘s The Magnificent Seven. The closing film will be Fremon Craig‘s The Edge of Seventeen.

The Magnificent Seven (it trailers can be found here) will have its world premiere on September 8, 2016 at the Roy Thomson Hall. Distributed by Metro – Goldwyn – Mayer Pictures and Columbia Pictures,

Director Antoine Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic. With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industr ialist  Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople, led  by Emma Cullen (Haley Bennett), employ protection from  seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers, and hired guns  — Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Faraday (Chris Pratt),  Goodnight  Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks ( Byung – Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia – Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier).  As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, thes e  seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.  The screenplay is by Nic  Pizzolatto and Richard Wenk.  The film is  produced by Roger Birnbaum and Todd Black.

The Edge of Seventeen follows  high school junior Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld ), who is already at peak awkwardness when her all – star  older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) starts dating her best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson). All at once, Nadine feels more alone  than ever, until the unexpected friendship of a thoughtful boy (Hay den Szeto) gives her a glimmer of hope that things just might not be  so terrible after all.
