Edward James Olmos

The Strain, The Flash, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and other TV productions have made recent TV show casting, TV movie casting, and TV directing news. These shows and movies air on TNT, HBO, and FX.

Montgomery Clift Biopic (HBO)

Matt Bomer has re-teamed with HBO Films for another project, a biopic of iconic Hollywood actor Monty Montgomery Clift.

Monty Clift too started off as an indie feature, which was put together more than a year ago with Bomer attached to star and Larry Moss set to direct from a script by Christopher Lovick.

Ira Sachs and Mauricio Zacharias will rewrite Lovick’s script. Din and Moss will serve as executive producers alongside Anonymous Content’s Tony Lipp and Alix Madigan.

At his prime, Clift rivaled Marlon Brando and James Dean as Hollywood’s biggest male stars and, along with them, was one of the first method actors in Hollywood. Clift also was the first Hollywood actor to refuse to sign a studio contract, choosing independence instead. He graduated from stage roles to screen success in films that includes A Place In The Sun and From Here To Eternity. His matinee idol good looks were destroyed by a devastating car accident that left him with a broken nose and partially paralyzed face. Though he continued to make movies, the accident haunted him until his death, even though he received an Oscar nomination, his fourth, for one of his last performances in Judgment At Nuremberg.

Clift had a complicated personal life, which he refused to put on display. He struggled with his sexual orientation and resorted to alcohol and drug addition following the accident.

The Strain (FX)

FX thriller drama The Strain is recasting the role of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather’s (Corey Stoll) son heading into Season 2. Max Charles…has been cast in the part as a regular. He replaces Ben Hyland, who played Zach Goodweather in Season 1.

I hear the second season of The Strain features a deeply emotional storyline involving Zach’s character, and the producers looked for a young actor with a range that can accommodate that.

The Flash (The CW)

Liam McIntyre has joined the cast of The CW’s “The Flash”…He will play the DC Comics villain Weather Wizard.

the antagonist goes by the alias Mark Madon and has the power to manipulate weather. The Weather Wizard comes to Central City seeking revenge against The Flash (Grant Gustin), who defeated Madon’s brother in the series premiere.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC)

Edward James Olmos has booked a role on the second season of the Marvel drama…as Robert Gonzales, a character whose debut will have massive repercussions for Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team. It’s unclear just how many episodes Olmos will appear in. The character will make his debut in a March episode.
