A United Kingdom Trailer

Amma Asante‘s A United Kingdom (2016) U.K. movie trailer stars David Oyelowo, Rosamund Pike, Tom Felton, Laura Carmichael, and Charlotte Hope. A United Kingdom‘s plot synopsis: “The film tells the incredible true story of Seretse Khama, King of Bechuanaland (modern Botswana), and Ruth Williams, the London office worker he married in 1948 in the face of fierce opposition from their families and the British and South African governments. Seretse and Ruth defied family, apartheid and empire – their love triumphed over every obstacle flung in their path and in so doing they transformed their nation and inspired the world.”

This film not only looks great, it looks inspiring as well. Seretse and Ruth were extremely brave for getting married in their time period. With all the race problems going on in their country and around the world, what they did, in the glare of the press, was extraordinary. Like Loving and Hidden Figures, A United Kingdom is a David versus Goliath story about race relations in the modern era.
