WHY HORROR? (2015) Movie Trailer & Poster: Doc Explores Desire For Fear

Why Horror? Movie Poster

Why Horror? Trailer. Tal Zimmerman‘s Why Horror (2015) movie trailer stars Eli RothJohn Carpenter and George RomermoWhy Horror‘s plot synopsis: “Documentary following horror fan Tal Zimerman as he travels around the world to understand why people thrive on blood and gore, and meets with the genre’s leading filmmakers, writers, actors and psychologists to discover how horror is portrayed in different cultures.”

This trailer doesn’t make me perk up, beyond the cheap trick of having masters of horror (and Eli Roth) speak about the attraction to the genre and what’s kept them personally engaged with it. I’ll always watch John Carpenter talk, and though I made an easy joke a few lines up, Eli Roth is an incredibly entertaining speaker when it comes to this subject (I’d stay up late to watch BRAVO’s 100 Scariest Horror Movie Moments every fall, and Roth’s genuine excitement of the films being covered was a big pull for me).

However, the documentary seems fairly amateur, replete with a voiceover from a guy with a boring voice, and nothing but a Zombie-Walk to frame the footage. We’ll see how this turns out at the end of the month. For now, take a look at the poster (which is good. Adequate. I like it) and check out the trailer below!

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
