Golden Raspberry Awards 2015: Kirk Cameron Wins A Lot

Razzie Award

Kirk Cameron Wins Big At 2015 Razzies. On February 21st, 2015, the 35th annual Golden Raspberry Awards were held, commemorating the very worst achievements in film over the past year. Notable nominees included Michael Bay with 11 nominations for his work as a director and a producer (Transformers:Age of Extinction and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles respectively), Kelsey Grammer with a nomination for his accumulated work between four films and Kirk Cameron who took the night’s “top” honors.

The Golden Raspberry awards (aka the Razzies) are the antithesis of The Oscar’s celebration of film’s best and brightest talent and award film’s most atrocious productions and performances. Even though the past year has offered audiences movies exceptionally worse than anything on the Razzie’s nomination  list, the Razzies choose to focus on fairly mainstream films in order to criticize Hollywood’s bloated and arcane movie making process. With so many of today’s crop of indie filmmakers out there resorting to Kickstarter campaigns so that they can fund their modestly budgeted passion projects, it is egregious that movie studios get to carry on spending hundreds of millions of dollars on heartless blockbusters that are seen by everyone and loved by no one.
