WINNIE THE POOH: BLOOD AND HONEY Earns 5 Razzie Awards Which Includes One For Worst Picture of 2023

Weak Horror Movie Nabs 5 Razzies on the Day Before the Oscars

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey collected a total of five unwanted Razzie awards at the 44th calling of the annual Razzie winners, I mean, losers.

It’s a yearly tradition for the Razzies to call out the worst in the world of film on a yearly basis. This year, the small organization simply let the horror movie based on a popular children’s book character, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, “have it” with a relentless awarding of five Golden Raspberry awards going directly to that film. But, the movie wasn’t alone. Sylvester “Sly” Stallone and Megan Fox were called out as some of the worst performers of the year while the once distinguished actor Jon Voight was named Worst Actor for his work in the little seen movie, Mercy.

Fox won (or lost, depending on how you interpret it) both Worst Actress (for Johnny & Clyde) and Worst Supporting Actress (for Expend4bles). Fox had shown a glimmer of potential in some projects from a few years back (including a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot picture) but things have taken a turn for the worse for the one-time Transformers star who is now saddled with two unwanted Razzies for her recent turns.

Poor Sly Stallone was hardly in Expend4bles (it was really Jason Statham’s show), but the Razzies still decided to notice that his most recent work wasn’t on par with his Rocky days of years past. But Sly shouldn’t feel too bad. Another fellow former Planet Hollywood co-owner, Bruce Willis, was recently called out by the Razzies too but, due to Willis’s unfortunate health issues, the Razzies backed off. Stallone will have to make up for this less than positive award with his next action picture.

The Razzies are all in the name of fun. Well, at least they’re supposed to be. Great performers like Glenn Close and Tom Hanks have been among the nominees and winners. The Razzies didn’t play games this year with too much Oscar caliber talent. By selecting Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey for Worst Film, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, Worst Screen Couple (Pooh and Piglet) and Worst Remake/Ripoff/Sequel, the group made a statement on just how bad the idea is to bring a hero from a kid’s book/cartoon/movie out as a serial killer in a horror film. Well, at least in a terrible horror movie, anyway. The jury is still out on an upcoming “Steamboat Willy” horror movie.

Fran Drescher was given a redemptive award for her work with SAG-AFTRA. She managed to handle the strike well last year. She previously was a Razzies nominee for her work in the fun comedy from 1997, The Beautician and the Beast. Although Drescher surely appreciated the redemption, she probably told the Razzies to, “Talk to the hand” many years ago. If you know, you know. The Razzies are typically selected the day before the Academy Awards ceremony.
