THE PUNISHER: A Netflix Spin-off of DAREDEVIL is in Development

Jon Bernthal Daredevil Season 2

Netflix Developing The Punisher TV Series. Daredevil is spawning a new Marvel series through spin-off of next season’s main antagonist, Frank Castle aka The Punisher, into his very own TV show series on Netflix. This is a bit of spoiler for fans of Daredevil because it confirms that The Punisher will survive his confrontations with Mat Murdock during Season 2 of Daredevil.

Many had no doubt that a war veteran trained by the U.S. military would be a lot for Daredevil to handle but no fans know for a fact that nothing fatal will happen to The Punisher. Will Elektra follow suit and get her own series, there is no word yet on that.

Hollywood has been trying to get The Punisher right for years. The only incarnation that came close (if not directly nailed it on the head) was The Punisher short film Dirty Laundry starring Thomas Jane. This will be Hollywood’s third attempt, and by all indications, Jon Bernthal’s version is right on the money.

Daredevil executive producer Doug Petrie had this to say about Frank Castle in Daredevil: Season 2 (from EW via TVline):

“Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but we’re also going to force people to second-guess themselves. Taking lethal justice into your own hands in America in 2015 is tricky s–t.”
