TV Review: Justified: Season 1, Ep.1: Fire in the Hole

The best scripted segment of the pilot episode of Justified, entitled Fire in the Hole, happens at its beginning with a countdown that ends in a shootout between Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) and Peter Greene. The remainder of the episode does not quite live up to that, even with the introduction of the episode’s main bad guy, Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins). The glimpses of Raylan’s past were good, especially when emotions played across his face. The action was  bloody but there was far more talking in the episode than the viewer will expect. Justified is going to need more meat on the bone if it is going to survive as Sons of Anarchy has. Time will tell.
