Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The home releases of To Kill a Mockingbird, Narc, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Complete First Season, Michael, and Mortal Kombat II are the most noteworthy releases (and pre-orders) on home video and streaming services this week.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Michael and had this to say about the movie:

Antoine Fuqua’s biopic, Michael, is a rather standard portrait of a musical artist who suffered from being pressured by an overwhelming dad. Although movies like Selena didn’t present the father figure to be quite as overbearing as the way Michael presents Michael Jackson’s dad, several of these types of biopics are cut from the same basic cloth.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Mortal Kombat II and had this to say about the movie:

Mortal Kombat II is too long at nearly two hours in length, but it asks questions about confronting leaders who threaten the common good and raises issues about the importance of doing the right thing. Karl Urban does no wrong in his role as the perfect guy for the job of saving the day.

FilmBook Editor-in-chief Rollo Tomasi reviewed Episode 5 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Complete First Season and had this to say about the episode:

In the Name of the Mother is the best episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms to date. Not only does it have excellently executed drama and action, the two elements are combined in a way that makes the episode a ten.
