Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The home releases of Air, Aporia, Barbie, Succession: Season 4, Cobra Kai: Season 5, The Walking Dead: Dead City: Season 1, Smile, The Last House on the Left, Kiss the Girls, and Rudy are the most noteworthy releases (and pre-orders) on home video and streaming services this week.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Air and had this to say about the film:

Air is a crowd-pleaser like no other. It features the best acting ensemble so far this year at the movies. Every major actor in the film put 100% into their role. It certainly was not easy to represent the American success story of Jordan and what makes the United States such a great place to live. Air does it though and almost makes it seem easy to play as superbly as it does.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Aporia and had this to say about the film:

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Barbie and had this to say about the film:

FilmBook Podcaster Chris Banks reviewed the first episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City: Season 1 and had this to say about it:

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Smile and had this to say about the film:

Parker Finn’s Smile is a truly absorbing horrorfest that will keep audiences frightened all the way through with its terrifically conceived central premise and solid lead performance by Sosie Bacon. It’s a nightmare come to life that is one of the more entertaining horror movies of late even if it’s not quite on a par with some of the more bizarre but terrifying recent horror movies such as Barbarian.

FilmBook Editor-in-chief Rollo Tomasi reviewed The Last House on the Left and had this to say about the film:

Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left is a top tier horror film that does exactly what it promises, it horrifies. The film grows in horrific acts as the film progresses much like Toby Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but where the latter is more subtle, the former bullies its violence right in front of the viewer’s eyes.
