Spartacus Blood and Sand The Thing in the Pit Review

The blood certainly flowed in Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Season 1, Episode 4: The Thing in the Pit. This was one of the bloodiest, freakiest episodes of the series yet. Pit fighters wearing masks of dead fighter’s faces. I liked seeing Barca (Antonio Te Maioho) defend the Lanista (John Hannah) against would-be slave assasains. That The Beast of Carthage perfers boys rather than girls was also a development that I did not see coming though no one could possibly impune his masculinity, especially after killing his own father. Spartacus (Andy Whitfield)’s halluciantion conversations with Sura (Erin Cummings) were good as well, especially when other people were in the room as he spoke and they have toned down the cgi blood and backgrounds for the real thing.
