The sequel to X-Men: First Class entitled X-Men: Day of Future Past (2014) will directed by X-Men, X-Men 2 director and X-Men: First Class producer Bryan Singer. We previously wrote about this possiblity here: X-Men: Day of Future Past (2014): Matthew Vaughn Out, Bryan Singer In?. Fans mourned when the director departed the franchise before the third film to direct Superman Returns instead, leaving Brett Ratner to close out the trilogy. But Singer returned to his beloved mutants with last year’s First Class, as a writer and producer on that film…Singer knows the [X-Men] story and characters inside and out, and has already shown us what he could do with them. Plus, his insight into the earlier movies should come in handy, as Days of Future Past is rumored to link First Class arc with Singer’s older movies.

I have to concur with those sentiments. This is great news, akin to Peter Jackson taking the reigns of The Hobbit trilogy coming out. This storyline deserved Singer and no one else.
