‘Rocky’ Documentary ’40 Years of Rocky: The Birth of a Classic’ Narrated by Sylvester Stallone Will Premiere On-Demand

Virgil Films & Entertainment is releasing the behind the scenes documentary, ’40 Years of Rocky: The Birth of a Classic’, this summer on-demand.

It has been 44 years since the release of the first Rocky film, Rocky, which released in 1976. The franchise currently has eight films under it’s belt, including two Creed films, with one more Creed film currently in development. The ’40 Years of Rocky: The Birth of a Classic’ documentary is based on the filming of the ‘Rocky’ franchise throughout the years and is directed and produced by Derek Wayne Johnson and narrated by the star of the Rocky films, Sylvester Stallone. The documentary will show never before seen footage on the making of the films over the years, makeup tests, boxing choreography sessions and other moments involving Stallone and the rest of the cast, giving the audience a more personal view on the production of the films. Stallone’s narration will include his own insight on the struggles he faced when getting the first film green-lit, the emotional moments he went through while filming, and he will even share his experiences (including fun facts) for fans while shooting each of the films. The documentary will premiere on digital HD platforms this summer on June 9.
