A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE (2024): Lupita Nyong’o Will Appear in Upcoming Horror Spinoff Film

Oscar Winner Lupita Nyong’o Slated to Star in Horror Spinoff

Academy Award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has been cast in the sure-to-be terrifying forthcoming spinoff movie, A Quiet Place: Day One.

When Lupita Nyong’o won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her fantastic role in 12 Years a Slave, she was instantly deemed one of Hollywood’s most valuable assets. Earlier this year, she appeared in the mediocre star-studded action movie, The 355 but don’t worry about that misfire because Nyong’o has a studio picture tentpole, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releasing in about a week and a half’s time. And, in 2024, it has just been reported that Nyong’o will be showcased in another big tentpole film, A Quiet Place: Day One.

This upcoming spinoff movie will be based on a basic idea by franchise creator, John Krasinski. Michael Sarnoski of Pig fame will be directing what is sure to be one of the most exciting blockbuster pictures that is set to come out in 2024. Paramount Pictures will be releasing the film on March 8th that year. Sarnoski proved to be one of the most promising directors working today when his earnest 2021 movie, Pig, garnered almost unanimous critical acclaim.

Nyong’o is also known for her work in Jordan Peele’s horror film, Us from 2019. That movie made a splash at the domestic box-office earning $175 million even though it scored just a “B” CinemaScore grade. Many expected Nyong’o to be a shoo-in for a Best Actress Academy Award nod for Us but because of the movie’s early-in-the-year release date and the fact that it was a horror movie kept the nomination from actually happening.

The A Quiet Place series is known for its quiet scenes since the monsters in the movies tend to respond to noise when selecting their victims. These sequences help build suspense within the film that is absolutely breathtaking to behold. Emily Blunt starred in the previous two films in this franchise but she may now be passing the torch to Nyong’o. It is unclear if Blunt will be participating in the upcoming picture right now.

12 Years a Slave was the winner for the Best Picture Oscar for movies from the year 2013. It was an absolutely stunning dramatic movie in which Nyong’o wowed audiences with her fierce, vulnerable performance that won her the Academy Award over such Hollywood A-listers as Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lawrence. It was one of the biggest upsets in Oscar history, not because Nyong’o didn’t deserve it but because she triumphed against such fierce competition.

Lupita Nyong’o is sure to create interest in the film A Quiet Place: Day One. Though the movie’s plot is not being revealed at the present time, it seems likely to be one of the biggest hits of 2024 if the excellent box-office performances of the previous two films in the series is any indication.
