Inde Navarrette Cast in X-Men Film as Rogue

Inde Navarrette of Obsession fame has joined the cast of 2028’s X-Men Marvel film and will be playing the role of Rogue.

It’s a stacked cast for the upcoming X-Men movie due out in a couple of years. Expected to be released May 5, 2028, the stars on board are Sadie Sink, Adam Driver, Kit Connor, Maya Boyd, Christopher Abbott, and Samara Weaving. Now joining them is Inde Navarrette of Obsession fame who will play Rogue.

Sink is hot off Spider-Man: Brand New Day and will be portraying Jean Grey in the X-Men film, which can be said now that the cat is finally out of the bag. Kit Connor will play Scott Summers, Samara Weaving will play Emma Frost while Adam Driver will be Mr. Sinister, a role that sounds right up the Oscar-nominated actor’s alley. Christopher Abbott has the anticipated role of Charles Xavier and Maya Boyd has been cast as Storm. Navarrette is to portray the character, Rogue. Jake Schreier will be helming the superhero project from Marvel.

Navarrette is currently one of the “It girls” of the moment as her work in the box-office hit, Obsession, is said to potentially be leading the actress down the path to a supposed Oscar nomination. Ema Sasic of Next Best Picture, a movie review website, stated at the end of her review that Navarrette and the film had no Oscar chances, but people are campaigning for her to not only get nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards, but to win. In my review, I didn’t praise Navarrette’s work or the film, but let’s call a spade a spade, she’s doing extremely well at the moment, especially with this recent casting news backing her up.

Obsession came out of nowhere to break box-office records despite its bizarre premise of a young woman obsessing over a man after he wishes she would love him on a one-wish willow. There’s no denying a turn as daring as Navarrette’s is hard to come by these days so it may be nice to see her get a Golden Globe nod for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy, but it would be quite another to see her get an Oscar nod for such an odd turn. Sasic is correct that the Oscar potential for Obsession is non-existent, although with the box-office success of it, anything can happen..

2019’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix was the last time we saw most of the X-Men characters on the big screen and that film didn’t particularly overachieve at the domestic box-office, coming up with a mere $65 million domestic gross. Avengers: Doomsday will soon show some X-Men in action, but the upcoming 2028 film with Navarrette will be the first full-fledged X-Men film since 2020’s critical box-office disappointment, The New Mutants.
