Terminator: Dark Fate was Fifth Place at the box office over the weekend with $10.7 Million. With that take and its reception from critics and fans, Terminator: Dark Fate has officially flopped.

Joker, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Harriet, Zombieland: Double Tap, and Jojo Rabbit rounded out the Top Ten respectively.

Joker has now become the most profitable comic book movie in history with a “32% domestic/68% overseas split” and a global cume of around $984.6 million so far. That is 15.75x its $62.5 million production budget.

The films in the Top Ten that opened this weekend at the box office:

Midway is a 2019 American war film based on the story of the attack on Pearl Harbor and the subsequent Battle of Midway during World War II. Directed by Roland Emmerich, who produced the film with Harald Kloser, and written by Wes Tooke, the film features an ensemble cast, including Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Aaron Eckhart, Nick Jonas, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, Tadanobu Asano and Woody Harrelson.

Doctor Sleep is a 2019 American horror film, based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Stephen King, a sequel to King’s 1977 novel The Shining. The film, following up the 1980 film adaptation of The Shining, directed by Stanley Kubrick, is set several decades after the events of the original, and combines elements of the 1977 novel as well. Doctor Sleep is written, directed, and edited by Mike Flanagan. It stars Ewan McGregor as Danny Torrance, a man with psychic abilities who struggles with childhood trauma. Rebecca Ferguson, Kyliegh Curran (in her feature film debut), and Cliff Curtis have supporting roles.

Playing with Fire is a 2019 American family comedy film directed by Andy Fickman from a screenplay by Dan Ewen and Matt Lieberman. The film stars John Cena, Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo, Brianna Hildebrand, Dennis Haysbert, and Judy Greer, and follows a group of firemen who must watch over three children who have been separated from their parents following an accident.

Last Christmas is a 2019 romantic comedy film directed by Paul Feig and written by Bryony Kimmings and Emma Thompson, who co-wrote the story with her husband, Greg Wise. It stars Emilia Clarke as a cynical Christmas store worker who keeps running into an overly-cheerful man (Henry Golding) and begins to fall for him; Thompson and Michelle Yeoh also star.

Next week sees the release of: Charlie’s Angels, Ford v. Ferrari, The Good Liar, and a plethora of other mainstream and independent films. Find my predictions on these releases in the weekly The Bottom Line column. A preview: Ford v. Ferrari will be Number One at the box office.
