Since the covid-19 pandemic has caused a Hollywood shutdown the past few months, production for films and television shows have been interrupted or delayed. As things start the re-opening process, the film industry finally gets somewhat of a greenlight to resume shooting. Productions will have to follow a detailed set of production protocols and guidelines which will ensure a very different way productions usually operate but will reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. A 22-page white paper of health and safety guidelines set to protect cast and crew on set was submitted by a team of studios and union officials on June 2nd. Guidelines include eliminating buffet-style craft tables and instead having individually packaged meals,  wiping down handheld props and equipment after use, temperature screening, organizing departments into small groups, reducing the number of people on set, limiting time with hair and make up artists, and holding virtual auditions. With all of the extra precautions and safety equipment necessary, this can cause a raise in budgets but its for the better, considering everyone’s safety. Other states are also working on their own safety guidelines so that they can get back to production as well. But for now, according to California Governor Gavin Newsom California will be able to resume production as soon as June 12.
