On Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll is an American subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming service owned by Sony Group Corporation. The service primarily distributes Japanese anime television series and films, as well as other East Asian media, with the service also hosting anime content from other providers, content add-ons, live events, music, video games, and video channels.

Launched in mid-2006, the service has more than 120 million registered users worldwide. Crunchyroll is a member of The Association of Japanese Animations (AJA). Crunchyroll offers more than 1,000 anime series, more than 200 East Asian dramas in more than 18 languages, and formerly offered around 80 manga titles through its Crunchyroll Manga anthology, although the number of available titles varies by country due to licensing restrictions.

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards, also known simply as The Anime Awards, are awards given annually by the anime streaming service Crunchyroll to recognize the best anime of the previous year. The awards have two rounds of voting. Initially, each judge will submit up to five potential candidates for each category. Six candidates that received the highest amount of nominations from this round will be included in the final list for the next round, which is a one-week public voting. Winners for each category are determined by the most amount of judge and public votes weighted in a 70:30 ratio respectively since at least the 6th edition.
