Cry Macho Begins Production in November 2020

Production for the adventure/drama film Cry Macho, which was originally planned in 2011 for Arnold Schwarzenegger to direct and star in but never came into fruition, will begin production in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 4, 2020 and wrap up on December 16, 2020.

This Warner Bros. effort based on Richard Nash’s namesake book will be handing directorial and production responsibilities over to world-acclaimed actor Clint Eastwood, who also will star as a one-time rodeo star and washed-up horse trainer on a mission to take his former boss’ son from Mexico City, where he is living with his alcoholic mother, across the border to Texas back to his father. The trainer hopes to be rewarded with fifty grand for this.

The film has yet to set an exact release date, although it is slated for sometime in 2021.

This is also not Eastwood’s first time directing in New Mexico. He also the filmed 2018’s crime drama The Mule there, a film in which he also starred as aging horticulturalist Earl Stone.

At 90 years of age, Eastwood is still very physically fit for the acting profession, and he also clearly doesn’t let his nonagenarian status stop him from keeping dedicated to his multi-tiered crafts of directing, producing, and acting—no one should expect him to even think about retiring from the film industry anytime soon. For those unfamiliar with his works, here are just a handful of his directorial efforts, starting with some of his more well-known ones:

A Perfect World (1999), American Sniper (2008), Bronco Billy (1980), Changeling (2008), Gran Torino (2008), Invictus (2009), Jersey Boys (2014), Million Dollar Baby (2014), Mystic River (2003), Pale Rider (1985), Space Cowboys (2000), The Bridges of Madison County (1995), True Crime (1999), and Unforgiven (1992).

Casting Opportunity in the Film

Since Eastwood is so far the only known cast member, those who live in or within reasonable distance of the Albuquerque area can jump at the chance of making some additional money by becoming an extra on set. This is an opportunity for aspiring actors who want to know what it is like to be on set. Since production begins next week, you might want to apply as soon as possible.

This opportunity is open to everyone of all ethnicities, ages, and body types/sizes. The pay is $120 for an eight-hour session and $160 for stand-ins.

There’s also a need for drivers and for them to ONLY supply automobiles that have been manufactured between 1960 and 1978, because the story takes place in the latter year.
