Zoey Deutch Cast in Forthcoming Suspense Film

Talented actress Zoey Deutch has just joined the high-profile cast of Clint Eastwood‘s new suspense thriller, Juror #2.

Lea Thompson’s daughter, Zoey Deutch, has been quite the prolific actress lately. With no less than three movie turns last year, Deutch has established herself as the “go-to” actress for many different types of assorted roles. Her success in the various parts she has played makes her one of the most versatile young actresses working today. The next stop on Deutch’s cinematic journey is playing a key role in the upcoming Clint Eastwood movie, Juror #2.

The casting of Zoey Deutch in Eastwood’s picture came as no surprise to her fans who knew she was on to bigger and better projects following her star-making role in last year’s mob drama, The Outfit. In that 2022 picture, Deutch wowed audiences managing to keep up with the superb acting of the always fantastic Mark Rylance.

Deutch has built her career on unpredictability and has done quite a few comedies through the recent years. Two of the most memorable were the moderate box-office successes, Why Him? and Dirty Grandpa. While the James Franco vehicle, Why Him? received a “B+” CinemaScore grade, the Robert De Niro-led  Dirty Grandpa just managed a “B.” The Franco picture, in which Deutch played a key role, earned well over $55 million domestically and pleasantly surprised viewers. Dirty Grandpa still pulled off a nice $35 million domestic total.

The Outfit proved Deutch had the acting chops to earn a central role in Eastwood’s new picture which will also showcase the talented performers, Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette. In the movie, there will be a very complex story at the core which is centered on Hoult’s juror, perhaps the title character of the film. Eastwood himself will also have a key role in the movie.

Hoult and Collette are coming off box-office duds Renfield and Mafia Mamma, respectively. While Deutch’s The Outfit didn’t exactly set the box-office on fire, Deutch will be able to prove herself as an actress to contend with in the Eastwood movie.

Howard Deutch, who directed a couple of John Hughes’s teen comedies (including Some Kind of Wonderful) from the 1980’s, is Zoey Deutch’s dad. Her mom, Lea Thompson, appeared in Some Kind of Wonderful and other movies like Howard the Duck and Back to the Future.

Zoey Deutch’s other films from last year, Not Okay and Something from Tiffany’s played to respectable streaming viewer numbers suggesting people are really starting to see Deutch as a potential household name. She has a certain on-screen quality that suggests she has what it takes to excel in the new Eastwood project.
