Thoughts on This Week’s In-home Releases

The home releases of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, The Pope’s Exorcist, Cliffhanger, Thelma & Louise, Les Misérables, Weird Science, and The Last House on the Left are the most noteworthy releases (and pre-orders) on home video and streaming services this week.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and had this to say about the film:

It’s hard to know why it took so long for a good Dungeons & Dragons movie to be made. This is a worthwhile film despite any minor criticisms. The interaction between cast members is memorable and there’s a lot of fun to be had for people who like their movies full of action and the plot has a few wild cards up its sleeve despite its overall predictability.

FilmBook Writer Thomas Duffy reviewed The Pope’s Exorcist and had this to say about the film:

The Pope’s Exorcist is one of the most surprising genre successes of 2023. Horror movies aren’t usually this good these days and Crowe has had his share of recent disappointments so it was not foreseeable that this movie would be as entertaining as it is. It’s not perfect, though.

FilmBook Editor-in-chief Rollo Tomasi reviewed The Last House on the Left and had this to say about the film:

Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left is a top tier horror film that does exactly what it promises, it horrifies. The film grows in horrific acts as the film progresses much like Toby Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but where the latter is more subtle, the former bullies its violence right in front of the viewer’s eyes.
