Almost Twelve Minutes of Footage from THE ROAD

Footage from The Road, 11:52 minutes, a film directed by John Hillcoat and starring Viggo Mortensen and Codi Smit-McPhee, has premiered online. The Road is based on the book of the same name Cormac McCarthy. I’ve read the book and its good, “a page turner”. It also never answers the one nagging question that hangs over the narrative, is bleak, depressing, true, and surprising. Humanity and I do mean “humanity”, on the brink of extinction. This is how it would really be at the end of the world, not the normal, sunny, hopeful Hollywood version we are usually spoon fed.

My favorite clip is the one entitled Never Killed a Man. It is almost a direct translation from the book. “That boy looks hungry.” They trimmed some of the dialogue but the essentials are still there. Spoilers: What I did not like is that they added extra gore, the killing/butcher room, in the house of the Bad Guys clip. It is also unfortunate that the almost constant ash and snow falling from the sky in the book looks to have been removed as well. End of Spoilers. Check out The Road clips below and leave your thoughts on them.
