This film seems usual, to say the least, but it also looks good. Will Ben (Viggo Mortensen)’s children really be able to go back to their simple lives in the woods after seeing the wonders of the modern world? That will be one of the narrative high-points of this film in its third act (a guess).

Has Ben been home-schooling his children all their lives? There are many questions surrounding the family’s prior existence that the film will probably answer. Thankfully, this trailer does not spoil them, though hints are given.

Captain Fantastic also stars Annalise Basso, Nicholas Hamilton, Shree Crooks, Trin Miller, Steve Zahn, Elijah Stevenson, Teddy Van Ee, Erin Moriarty, Missi Pyle, and Frank Langella.
