FRANCESCA (2015) Movie Trailer & Images: Modern, Grindhouse Giallo Horror

Francesca Stills & Trailer

Francesca Movie Trailer. Luciano and Nicolás Onetti‘s Francesca (2015) movie trailer stars a wide variety of Italian actors. Francesca‘s plot synopsis: “It’s been 15 years since the disappearance of little Francesca, daughter of the renowned storyteller, poet, and dramatist Vittorio Visconti; and the community is stalked by a psychopath bent on cleaning the city of ‘impure and damned souls.’ Moretti and Succo, questioned by the ineffectiveness of the police force, are the detectives in charge of elucidating the mystery surrounding these ‘Dantesque’ crimes. Francesca seems to have returned, but she is not be the same girl who everyone knew…”

Now this is old-school Italian horror. There isn’t even a proper IMDb page for this, and the synopsis we provided you with is one we’re fortunate to have (thanks, DreadCentral!). One look at the trailer and you know what you’re in for. There’s an overwhelming sense of craftsmanship on display here: the texture, the film grain, the deep blacks and thick colours, the grindhouse DIY ambience we never get to see anymore. This feels like an authentic Italian giallo film. There’s even a man dressed in black, wearing black gloves, plunging a hunting knife into somebody (here’s hoping that’s the director’s hand, for maximum giallo authenticity)!

I haven’t heard of these brothers, but they seem to be highly talented and very aware of what they’re doing. I’ll definitely be checking this out as soon as possible. For now, take a look at these two stills, and follow that up by watching this magnificent trailer!

Nice, deep, rich colours and texture, don’t you think? Take a look at the trailer for a deeper look at this beautifully constructed grindhouse film. It really looks like this was made in 1980. Very impressive!

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
