HAWKEYE (2021): Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, Florence Pugh, Zhan McLarnon, Fra Free, & Alaqua Cox Join Disney+ TV Show

Florence Pugh To Reprise Black Widow Role

The upcoming Hawkeye series on Disney Plus has added six new cast members according to sources.

Along with series leads Jeremy Renner  and Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Florence Pugh, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, and Zahn McClarnon will all appear in the series.

Farmiga is attached to play the Marvel character Eleanor Bishop, the mother of Kate Bishop (Steinfeld).

Farmiga was previously nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Up in the Air She is also known for her starring role in the A&E series Bates Motel and in films like Martin Scorsese’s The Departed and James Wan’s The Conjuring series.

Fee will play a character named Kazi, most likely short for Kazimierz Kazimierczak, known to Marvel comics fans as the mercenary villain Clown.

Fee’s onscreen roles include the 2012 Oscar nominated musical Les Misérables  as well as films like the drama  Animals, and the Irish comedy horror film Boys from County Hell.

Dalton will play Jacques “Jack” Duquesne aka the Marvel character Swordsman. An early mentor of Hawkeye, Swordsman has been both a villain and a hero in the comics, even becoming an Avenger for awhile.

Dalton is best known in the United States as crime boss Lalo Salamanca on AMC’s Better Call Saul, but he has starred in various Spanish language shows such as Sr. Ávila, Dueños del Paraíso, and Los simuladores.

Pugh will reprise the role of spy and assassin Yelena Belova, the sister of Black Widow. Pugh is set to play the character in the upcoming film Black Widow opposite Scarlett Johansson, who has played the title character in multiple films throughout the MCU. That film is scheduled to be released in May 2021 after being delayed due to the pandemic.

Pugh was last seen in Greta Gerwig’s 2019 adaptation of Little Women, for which she received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. ” She previously starred in the AMC limited series The Little Drummer Girl and in films like the horror film Midsommar  and the historical dramas Lady Macbeth and Outlaw King.

Cox will make her onscreen debut as Maya Lopez, aka Echo, a deaf Native American who is capable of perfectly copying another person’s movements, making her a formidable fighter. Interestingly, in the comics Maya Lopez assumes the identity of Ronin, which is the alias Hawkeye goes by in the beginning of Avengers:Endgame.

McClarnon will play the role of William Lopez, a version of Maya’s father Willie “Crazy Horse” Lincoln from the comics.

McClarnon previously starred in shows like Fargo, WestworldThe Son, and Into the West. He also recently appeared in films like the Western Hell on the Border, the action thriller The Silencing, and the Shining sequel Doctor Sleep. 

Jonathan Igla is attached to write and executive produce Hawkeye. Production recently commenced on the series in Atlanta and New York, as both Renner and Steinfeld were seen on a Brooklyn subway platform in character.
