Brad Pitt’s Days as a Movie Star Could be Numbered

One of Hollywood‘s most consistently successful leading men, Brad Pitt, could be stepping out of the limelight in the not too distant future.

In the mid 1990’s, you couldn’t get a more prolific and handsome actor to lead a box-office smash than Brad Pitt. His back-to-back successes of Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles and Legends of the Fall in 1994 made him a movie star to be reckoned with. He made a leading appearance in the big budgeted drama, Meet Joe Black, in 1998 and continued his successful career for many years to come hitting another successful milestone with his turn opposite Angelina Jolie in the 2005 action movie hit, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button lead actor was reported as telling GQ magazine that he could be on his last leg in terms of big movie roles.

Don’t dim the lights on Brad Pitt’s career quite yet. He has a summer tentpole movie coming out this year called Bullet Train and a certified Oscar bait movie, Babylon, due out this holiday season. Bullet Train is a no-holds-barred action picture which will most likely be a late summer smash (it’s due out in early August). It co-stars Sandra Bullock who is another high profile star that may be out of the limelight for a bit herself. Bullock recently said that she was taking time off from acting. Damien Chazelle (La La Land) is directing Babylon which is a period drama about Hollywood during the silent era. Chazelle’s name is a stamp associated with quality and Pitt’s presence in the film has certainly piqued the curiosity of moviegoers.

When Pitt was expected to win the Academy Award for his work in 2011’s baseball drama, Moneyball, he ended up losing to an actor (Jean Dujardin) from, interestingly enough, a film about the silent era, The Artist. Could Pitt be fated for Oscar glory by playing in a movie about the silent era himself? Time will determine if that is possible.

Pitt won his Academy Award in the Best Supporting Actor category. He secured his Oscar by playing an amazing part in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 gem, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood. Many had hoped Pitt would have won this award earlier in his career for 1995’s 12 Monkeys but as they say, better late than never.

While Pitt is nearing 60 years old, he’s still as handsome and energetic as ever as proven in his fun role in this year’s The Lost City. He has always been a terrifically admired performer and whatever path he chooses, it will be interesting to see what Pitt decides to do. If Bullet Train racks up money at the box-office and Babylon gets some Oscar love, it may just be hard for Pitt to let go.
