Jackass 4 Release Date Pushed Back to 2021

Due to complications caused by the global pandemic, Paramount Pictures has postponed release of the fourth Jackass film from March 5, 2021 to July 2nd, 2021. The third Jackass film was released in 2010, leaving an eleven year gap between the two sequels, not including the 2013 spin-off BAD GRANDPA. COVID-19 has caused many delays in both the production and release of many films that were set to come out this year, Jackass 4 being no exception. The film, part of the cult franchise that began as an MTV reality series produced by Spike Jonze. The new film is likely to be directed by Jeff Tremaine like its predecessors.

There is no official news regarding the film’s director or cast. It is still set to surround the adventures of protagonist stuntman Johnny Knoxville and company. COVID-19 has sparked much controversy regarding the release and production of films throughout its turmoil, pushing back the schedules for countless films. Additionally, Paramount announced that it will be delaying Michael B. Jordan’s WITHOUT REMORSE.

Because of the closing of movie theaters, there appears to be no reason for production companies to be producing films beyond the foreseeable end of COVID-19, unfortunately.

Jackass’s cultural legacy pervades the release of its fourth spin-off by becoming the first JACKASS film to be released throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, begging the question of whether the content will address the havoc wreaked by the virus. While this seems highly unlikely, one never knows with the unpredictability of the JACKASS universe. It seems that though it is a shame that fans will have to wait longer for the film’s release, it does leave room for more mystery surrounding the forthcoming plot of the fourth installment of the franchise.
